Me and You, and A Dog Named Blue – A Beacon of Hope at Jacksonville Humane Society

In late August, a caring citizen discovered Blue, a young dog in desperate need of help, and brought her to the Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS). At just two years old and weighing a mere seventeen pounds, Blue was severely malnourished and too weak to lift her head. The veterinary team faced a daunting challenge, unsure if she would survive.

Yet, thanks to the incredible support of our community, Blue’s story has become one of determination and hope. In one short week, this determined pup has shown remarkable progress. Despite her frail condition, Blue wagged her tail, developed a hearty appetite, and even managed to sit up to greet her caretakers. In a heartwarming milestone, she took her first steps and barked for the first time since her arrival. To add a touch of comfort to her recovery, Blue has also received a cozy set of new pajamas.

The road ahead for Blue is still long, and her recovery will require ongoing care and support. The JHS medical team is dedicated to giving Blue the best chance at a full recovery, but they do need your help to continue providing the essential care she needs.

Your donations play a crucial role in supporting JHS’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals like Blue. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide medical treatment, nourishing food, and a safe environment for animals in need.
